Claude API pricing: compare Anthropic's list prices with OpenAny routes

Compare matched Claude model rates and calculate an example bill without mixing subscription allowances, cache discounts or partner prices.

Anthropic pricing documentation and OpenAny public model rates checked on 2026-11-04. Calculations are illustrative; no authenticated requests or actual charges measured.

For Claude API workloads, OpenAny offers a reason to look beyond the headline token price: the same balance can cover eligible Claude calls and the data APIs that supply context. That can simplify an agent stack even when the model-rate saving itself is modest.

Start with a matched-model comparison. Do not compare the cheapest model in one catalog with a stronger model in another and call the difference a discount.

Published rates on November 4, 2026

USD per one million tokens, standard uncached input/output. OpenAny rows use the public prompt and completion customer fields divided by 1,000,000, not partner fields.

Model Anthropic input / output OpenAny input / output
claude-sonnet-4-6 $3.00 / $15.00 $2.896552 / $14.482759
claude-fable-5.1 $10.00 / $50.00 $9.655172 / $48.275862

Both OpenAny routes above are labeled Anthropic in the inspected catalog.

These selected OpenAny catalog rates are about 3.45% below the corresponding standard list prices. The route label is catalog metadata, not independent proof of an official reseller relationship, a first-party service contract or identical data residency. Check the provider terms and permissions relevant to your account.

What the difference means for a real budget

Illustrative workload: 10 million uncached input tokens and 2 million output tokens. No cache, batch, server-tool charges or funding fees are assumed.

Model Anthropic reference OpenAny reference Calculated difference
Sonnet 4.6 $60.00 $57.93 $2.07
Fable 5.1 $200.00 $193.10 $6.90

For Sonnet: 10 x 2.896552 + 2 x 14.482759 = 57.931038. The same token mix is a comparison assumption, not a prediction that two routes will produce identical token counts or completion quality.

A modest rate reduction is not a reason to ignore operational fit. If OpenAny removes several separate provider accounts from the workflow, that may matter more than this example's dollar difference. If you require a particular first-party feature or contractual guarantee, direct access may be more suitable.

The details that change a Claude bill

  • Caching: cache reads and cache creation are different billing categories. Do not price every input token as an uncached token when estimating a cache-heavy application.
  • Batch: an asynchronous batch rate is not the right benchmark for an interactive coding session.
  • Tools: tool definitions consume tokens; server-side tools can have additional fees. External data APIs are another cost line, not free context.
  • Region and context: verify the selected model's context policy and any residency premium. Do not copy an old long-context multiplier across all Claude versions.
  • Client plan: a Claude or editor subscription is a separate product. API access through OpenAny does not turn that subscription into shared credits.

Record the rate source and check date alongside your estimate. Before executing, inspect the current route and budget for the whole task, including approved retries rather than assuming failure is always free.

Turn the comparison into a useful integration

Create an OpenAny account, inspect the model catalog, and choose a route based on protocol and task requirements. For the coding client, follow Claude Code base URL setup; a price listing alone is not a working client integration.

For a broader workflow, the same agent can retrieve a source through a supported OpenAny API and then summarize it with Claude. Data retrieval and inference remain separate calls with explicit permissions, even when they share an account and balance.

Task preview

Read https://openany.si/AGENT.md and follow its setup and credential-safety instructions.

Task: Refresh a Claude API comparison using 10 million uncached input tokens and 2 million output tokens. Validate quantities, inspect Anthropic's official pricing and OpenAny's public customer route prices, and compare only exact model variants and matching billing conditions. Separate input, output, cache reads, cache writes, batch, server tools and region premiums. Never use partner prices as customer prices or equate an OpenAny route label with a first-party contract or guaranteed residency. Return a dated source table, formulas, workload estimates and the practical fit of a shared model/API balance. Do not make authenticated calls, top up, claim measured savings or change any configuration.

Guide: https://openany.si/guides/claude-api-pricing-openany-comparison/
Ask for a budget and approval before billable requests. Never request credentials in chat. Do not substitute providers or execute other actions without approval. Preserve sources and timestamps; report missing data and actual results honestly.

Frequently asked questions

Does OpenAny always beat Anthropic's price?

No. Compare the exact current route and workload, including cache, batch, context and funding conditions.

Are Claude subscriptions and API credits interchangeable?

No. A Claude subscription allowance is not an OpenAny API balance or an Anthropic API balance.

Can I use the same model through Claude Code?

Only after verifying the route's Messages protocol and required client features. Pricing alone does not prove compatibility.
